Growing Contentment

Here we go again with new garden plans. You can see the outline of what
is to come. This will be a path of pavers leading to our pumpkin patch.
On either side will be potatoes (thank you Reluctant Entertainer)
and flowers.
On the way will be flat beds with veggies. (Thanks again Sandi)
All in all...Contentment!

Farmgirl Sisterhood

Last year after my Daddy died I felt the need to do something positive ~ not only personally, but globally ~ in a simple, organic sort of way. So I joined the Farmgirl Sisterhood. I received my badge with all instructions for earning future badges. It's kind of a grown up Girl Scouts.
Well, I just completed my beginner projects for the crochet badge. I know, it looks really simple but for me it is huge! I'm ready for more :-)

We planted veggies this year and I plan to "put up" some for the winter.

It's Alive!

I'm feeling a little bit like Ma Ingalls today. I decided to try my hand at sourdough starter. Sorry the pictures are a little blurry. Our camera is dying a very slow death and a new one just isn't in the budget :-(

My kitchen smells like a bakery with this stuff just bubbling away on the counter. I can't wait for it to finish growing so I can make my first loaf of yummy sourdough bread. Hmm, maybe I should make my own butter too.

Reuse, Recyle...

This black and white toile fabric has seen us through many projects. If you scroll down through my blog you will see many uses for this beautiful fabric.
The latest is a recycled grocery bag holder for Elisa.
Come and get it Elisa!

Ahh Spring

We started our seeds in faith. They have come up and are ready to be put into the
ground.
We are praying for a bountiful harvest.

Faith Like Potatoes

Rent it. Be sure to put the subtitles on.

Easter Day

Ty is loving our new hammock. He even coaxed Bella onto it today!
Spring in full bloom in our window box.

Our Easter table just waiting for our Spanish Frittata and muffins.
What?? You had ham and all the fixins??

Ahh...

Piedmont Lumber had a special sale day today. 35% off and no sales tax!
So...Al received his Father's Day present a few months early :-)

There is nothing like a hammock to rock you to sleep after a long day.
We both rocked ourselves to calmness under the tree lights just looking
up to the sky tonight. It just doesn't get any better than this.

Spring Break Projects

Gotta love Spring Break! I have time to do some projects around
the house that I've been dying to do but just don't have time when I'm working.
(Or the energy)
I sewed new curtains and a sink skirt out of leftover
black and white toile from Lizzie's wedding. Then I
hung some of my favorite plates above the stove.
To give credit where credit is due, Jenny thought
touches of red would look good in my kitchen.
She's right!

Palm Sunday

Today is Palm Sunday, which you already know. Our church did not even
recognize this today. I'm finding that in an effort to become "non-church like"
some of the church's beautiful special days are being over looked.
I grew up Catholic and really loved all the holy days. I especially loved the
week before Easter. It really helped me to focus on the enormity of Christ's
sacrificial death for us.
But then remember, I always wanted to be a nun.
