While we were shopping at Brunos today, Tyler and I stopped at a "cheese demo". Tyler loved the cheese (medium cheddar) so we bought some to take home. What Tyler really loved was the way the cheese was presented.

So, when we got home, Tyler cut some of the cheese and placed it on a plate.

True Love Waits

Tyler has just completed a study program in Youth Group titled

'True Love Waits"

It is so much more than the name would suggest. We would assume that this would be all about abstinence, purity, and marriage. Yes, this is true. Oh, but there is so much more...

Tyler, along with MANY other teens pledged to wait until marriage to have sex. Even then...they pledged not to engage in sexual relations unless their hearts were right with God. They pledged not to claim their needs over another person (even their wedded spouse). Wow, this is Huge! You may not be able to grasp the enormity of this. We, who were witnesses to this ceremony, were indeed awed by their commitment. What you see on this board are their public commitments to honor those they are in relationships with (now or in the future). There was a very solemn ring ceremony where the parents placed purity rings on the ring fingers of their children. These rings will be given to their future spouses as a vow to honor God.

At the same time, Tyler and I are signed up for the "Walk For Life". This is a local fundraiser for the Center For Life Choices, where a young woman can go to receive free pregnancy testing , prenatal counseling , ultrasound and medical treatment, free of charge. The Center exists to provide medical treatment, counseling and adoption referrals. If you would like to sponsor me or Tyler~~just let us know. All donations are, of course, tax deductible.

Erik Benjamin Joel Sombs was born today, April 21, 2008 at
6:53 a.m. He weighed in at 7 lbs. 12 oz. and is 20.5" long.
He is as beautiful as his Mommy and as handsome as his Daddy!
(Mommy is Tyler's teacher)

Michael Chiarello , Tyler Florence, Tyler Silva...The names just roll off your tongue!

Tyler wants to learn how to bake a cake. So...this weekend we are going to attempt this. We are going to start with a cake mix and then we will move up to a "scratch" cake.

A friend of mine calls this "a marketable skill". I'll be happy if he enjoys the experience.

How Sweet It Is To Be Loved By You...

I put together the umbrella lights today. No small feat!! I kept reminding myself...Al will just LOVE this!
I grilled chicken in a White wine/pesto/garlic marinade. I served it over a bed of tri-colored couscous and fresh greens. Yummy!!!
Oh My...I think he is happy!!
Soo...if it was difficult to assemble these lights....it was worth it :-)

Shower the People You Love With Love

I attended yet another baby shower last night! This one was for Jamie, one of our 2nd & 3rd grade teachers. Just look at this adorable sweater and felted hat set, made by Becky (our Lead Teacher).

We had a lot of fun and a lot of good food :-)

We are having a twelve- year -old- boy's sleep over tonight!
They have weapons of mass destruction!

We have to separate them into two rooms for sleeping!

Working in the Yard

We worked in the yard today...I say "we" but really Al did all the work!

He secured my white picket fence that kept falling over...

Just look at the flowers blooming in the window box Al built for me

Oh~~and look at the flag that flies from outside our front door! I had attached this very flag at a crazy angle. Al fixed it for me :-)

Can you catch a theme here?? I have ideas and Al makes them work!!

Dog Day Afternoon

Bella is so sad today. Her little friend Blake left this morning."Who am I going to play with? Who will let me lick off their plate?"

This is all she has done today~~just lay around by the front door and let out a big sigh now and then :-(

Family Visit

Lizzie, Trey, Blake and Selena came to visit us this weekend.

Now, mind you, they drove up from San Diego where the weather is warm. Here they are roasting marshmallows in our 40 degree weather!
