A Life of Ease

These have been trying days lately. I prayed last year, "Lord, let me not seek a life of ease". Well, he has answered that prayer 100 fold. Little did I know what that prayer would entail. It seems Theodore Roosevelt had this same thought many years ago. He wrote an eloquent speech about this very subject. If you do a google search on "life of ease" you can read his very words on this subject.

We don't have to go far to find articles on "the simple life" or managing our time. I'm not advocating a work till you drop type of life--just one of balance. Let's not be afraid of hard work. To everything there is a season; a time to work and a time to rest.

A Formal Affair

As we prepare for our upcoming wedding feast we are confronted with an entire range of emotions. We are so happy for Lizzie and Trey. We have enjoyed the planning, landscaping, decorating...and at the same time we are sad to see the end of preparations. While all this happiness goes on, Carol has been hospitalized for an illness that baffles the best of the doctors. Tonight it seems they may have a diagnosis that will allow her to receive some relief from her constant pain. The traditional Jewish toast stated above takes into account all that life brings us--the good and the difficult. Raise your glass, "L'Chaim!"

Life As We Know It

Wedding Plans:

Hydrangeas are Lizzie's choice of wedding flowers. They are just exquisite in color and form.

Library Awards: The grandkids just finished their summer reading program and received their awards yesterday. Jared is sooo proud!

Illness: "Dermatomyositis" Carol is in Kaiser Hospital awaiting test results for an illness that just seemed to seize her these past two weeks. As "Life As We Know It" goes on, Carol is lying in a hospital room very ill. She is very gracious and wishes that everything goes on as planned.

Fine Dining

I don't have "sippy cups", plastic or disposable cups in the house. When the grandkids come they drink from glass goblets and eat from "real" plates. Now, mind you, the goblets are from the dollar store and the real plates have chips in them. The kids do very well sitting at the big table eating and drinking from "real" dishes. They even ask to be excused (after a fashion). Just look at them chow down!

Linear Equations

So, here I am again. New semester, more math. This time I'm taking Algebra 2 at the college. The book fools us into starting really easy and then all of a sudden "BAM! " as Emeril says.
Maybe I can get Emeril to do my math homework!

Dog Day Afternoon

This is Bella's favorite place to take a nap in the afternoon. She just loves to lay in the sun and soak up the rays! Do you think I should warn her of the sun's damaging effects?
