Osprey

We've been hearing the beautiful call of an unknown bird this week.
We discovered its identity today. It is an Osprey returning from his/her vacation
in South America.
Our neighbors Eric and Monica are blessed to have this family nesting in a tree in their backyard. We have to view them through binoculars or a telescope.
The Osprey can have a wing span of 54". Can you imagine??
They feed on fish, which explains the view from our binoculars of prey firmly attached to the talons of this spectacular bird.
This Osprey family only has to fly two blocks down to the lake to find their meals. They are nesting at the very top of a tree with a flat berth. I can't wait to follow their progress through Spring and Summer.
